The Hessian State Ballet's large-scale participatory projects in Wiesbaden and Darmstadt offer an extraordinary dance experience!

... this time it's out into the fresh air and the spectators are also the participants.
Together with the Frankfurt choreographer and dance professor Hannah Shakti Bühler and the Austrian dancer and choreographer Simon Mayer, the Hessian State Ballet is planning a major outdoor “dance event” in which everyone is invited to dance along.
Folkdanceparty is a hosted dancefloor, an evening that celebrates community and brings the art of celebration to life as a resource in times of instability. Inspired by old and new traditions and rituals, the audience is invited on a journey through different dance styles and dance games, alternating between participatory, animated and performative moments.
As part of these two outdoor events, there is the opportunity to take part in one of the two preparatory workshops beforehand. These serve to immerse yourself in the artists' practice and research together with them and to get to know the ingredients of the FolkDanceParty.
The participants of the workshop are invited to discover different dance styles, formations and dance traditions and to dive deeper into collective dance experiences. The aim is to then share the various experiences and forms and dances developed with a larger audience as part of the FolkDanceParty.
